BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Students around the Capital City got to hear from former LSU and current U.S. track star Lolo Jones.
Jones visited McKinley and Capitol Middle Schools launching her Hurdles For Hope program. It targets families and youth with incarcerated loved ones.
The inspiration for the project comes from her rough upbringing in which she was raised by a single mom, her own dad behind bars.
"It wasn't easy for me to become a two-time Olympian and I am still fighting to get some hardware,” Jones said. “Hopefully, they can listen to my story and can pull anything that can help them go after and pursue their dream."
