VERNON, CT (CTNow) — An intoxicated mother was bringing her two children trick-or-treating Wednesday when she stopped her vehicle in the middle of an intersection, police said.
Police found 43-year-old Amber Haaser at the intersection of Harry Lane and Donnell Drive after her 9-year-old child called 911 to say something was wrong with Haaser.
The 9-year-old and an 11-year-old sibling, who was also in the car, are now with family.
Haaser was charged with driving under the influence, failure to take a field sobriety test, improper parking and two counts of risk of injury to a child.
She is being held on $5,000 bond until her arraignment Thursday at Superior Court in Rockville.
Police said the neighborhood where Haaser stopped her car was crowded with trick-or-treaters, police said.
