BATON ROUGE, LA — A former employee with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was arrested today for Theft.
Donnie Hookfin, 30, was employed with the Sheriff's Office for the past 7 years working in security at the parish prison.
According to reports, Hookfin allegedly worked an extra-duty security detail for a local organization on September 23, 2012. EBRSO detectives were contacted by CVS on October 15, 2012 and began investigating.
As part of his assignment he made a deposit for the organization at a local bank in the overnight deposit drop box. An employee of CVS had recently made the business’ nightly deposit prior to Hookfin. When Hookfin went to make the deposit for the local organization, CVS’s deposit had not dropped completely into the box. Hookfin allegedly took the CVS deposit of $4,321.42.
Hookfin was terminated and will be booked this evening into parish prison on the above listed charge.
