BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Just a day after being arrested and charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana, Tyrann Mathieu’s professional dreams are in limbo.

Mathieu's chances of ever playing football at LSU again are all but out the window, but his NFL aspirations do remain. Of course there will be a long road ahead if he wants to play on Sunday.
Longtime NFL scout Chris Landry explains that while Mathieu was never an extremely high draft projection, he no doubt would have been drafted. Although six months remain until the NFL draft, Landry believes the chances of hearing Tryann Mathieu's name are very slim.
“You will get a second and third opp. but will he be drafted right now? I don’t think so,” Landry predicts. “But there is time and maybe time can heal those wounds and maybe he can get a chance to get drafted late."
That possible missed opportunity due to his latest headline could cost the “Honey Badger millions.
"When you lose that opportunity to play at that NFL level, you lose all of those financial opportunities,” Landry noted. “In the real world, making money that way doesn't work. I think the loss will be devastating because we don't know what opportunities will be.”
Mathieu obviously has a lot to get in order if those NFL dreams that seemed so certain a year ago could become reality. It would start with the legal matter as for the charges they're still being reviewed by the District Attorney and the city prosecutor's office.
