Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Students at one East Baton Rouge middle school joined the fight to free Louisiana from childhood obesity.
Glasgow Middle School hosted a healthy food expo as part of National Food Day. The goal: to educate kids on better food choices plus what they can do to be more active.
Mayor Kip Holden even gave his own healthy tips to students.
Students say it's important for their generation to get better informed about the effects of overeating or eating unhealthy food.
Glasgow students also collected around 1,000 cans to give to the Baton Rouge Food Bank. Fourteen other schools in EBR Parish also participated in similar food drives.
