Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Today was the grand opening for the new Public Works and Planning Center.
More than 150 city-parish employees will work at the facility on the Laurel Street. It will have everything a developer would need under one roof.
There will be offices for the Planning Commission, Permits and Engineering departments. David Guillory of DPW says it's going to help the parish better assist people doing business in East Baton Rouge Parish.
"It's going to cut down on times, cut down on research one would have to do to get permits, and cut down on the time it would take to make plans from one division to the next,” stated Guillory. ‘It's really going to help people do business better with Department of Public Works, Finance and Planning Commission."
The building is also environmentally friendly. It's the first one in the parish to be LEED (Leadership in energy and Environmental Design) certified.
