BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Students at Park Elementary are learning to say no to drugs and alcohol. It's all part of Red Ribbon week at the school.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Department talked to the kids about the importance of staying drug free. They also signed a pledge promising to not use drugs or alcohol. Their principal says it's all about making sure the students become productive members of society.
"We want to make sure they understand that it's important to have a sound mind, sound body, sound spirit each and every day so that they can get the education they need to be good citizens in the world," Jessica Brister, Park Elementary Principal, said.
Tomorrow the students will take part in "Peace out to Drugs". They'll wear tie-dye shirts to school.
