BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Dozens took the swing to help raise money for families of fallen soldiers.
The Second Annual Patriot Shootout was held today at the University Club Golf course. Last year the golf outing raised over $57,000, and this year organizers are sure they'll raise even more.
Folds of Hope is the organization that helps put on the event. They raise scholarship money for the children and spouses of soldiers killed in combat.
"These are the families of people who have guaranteed our freedom, and the families a lot of times pay the ultimate price as well and they're left behind and we can't leave anyone behind," Tony Beiatea, Patriot Shootout director, said.
Members of every branch of the military were present on the course today. Close to a dozen restaurants were also on hand to offer food and drink to those participating in the outing.
