CROWLEY, LA (NBC33) — Police believe a shooting that happened over the weekend in Crowley may have been retaliation for a murder that occurred two days prior.
Crowley Police responded to a shooting incident on Sunday, Oct. 21 shortly before 8:00 p.m. It happened in the 600 block of West 7th Street.
According to police reports, unknown suspect(s) approached a vehicle in this area on foot and began firing at the vehicle which was occupied by 2 persons. During the shooting, one person was struck in the arm and leg area. The injury is not life threatening as the victim is being treated at a Lafayette Hospital.
“We have not confirmed, but believe that this shooting (Sunday) may be in retaliation to the Friday evening homicide on Jacobs Ave.” stated Chief K.P. Gibson. “We are working hard to stop this violence as we believe it relates to the narcotics problems of our community.”
