Whether or not Rueben Randle matriculates at LSU may depend on what a former high school teammate decides to do.
The Bastrop senior's father tells Robert Neagli, sports director of NBC affiliate KTVE in Monroe, that he will not sign with LSU if Deangelo Benton does. Benton reportedly gave a verbal commitment to the Tigers Tuesday.
Randle's dad, Emmitt Randle, says it’s nothing personal – it’s purely a depth-chart situation -- and Benton going to LSU could mean less playing time for Rueben.
Randle is the number two prospect in the country according to Rivals.com. He's being recruited as a wide receiver. Randle caught 11 touchdown passes during his junior season, but shifted to quarterback for his senior year. He passed for 20 touchdowns and ran for 12 more.
National signing day is Wednesday. Randle's has narrowed his list of possible destinations to three schools: LSU, Oklahoma and Alabama.
