BATON ROUGE, LA — Tim Williams, a senior football player from University Laboratory High School and the No. 28 prospect in the nation according to the ESPN 150, was presented his honorary game jersey at the American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2013 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game at University Laboratory High School in Baton Rouge, La., today. The event was part of the three-month American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the Under Armour All-America Game.
Williams is one of 90 players selected to compete in the sixth-annual Under Armour All-America Game presented by American Family Insurance, a nationally televised competition spotlighting the country’s top high school seniors. The 2013 Under Armour All-America Game is slated for 5 p.m. ET on Jan. 4, 2013, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will be televised on ESPN.
"I'm just excited about going out there being blessed to walk onto that field,” Williams said. “Not too many kids go out there and play – I am one out of a million other kids who play football. So, I just want to go out there for the experience and have fun before I go to college."
The national Selection Tour sponsored by American Family Insurance is an expansion of the Under Armour All-America Game. As part of American Family Insurance's involvement, the events will raise awareness around teen driving safety and recognize the student athletes, as well as the coaches, families and communities who have helped make these players' dreams a reality.
“It starts with a dream and the desire to be great, whether your area of interest is sports or something completely different,” said Deborah Peterson, American Family Insurance’s customer relationship marketing director. “These young athletes put in the work and made the sacrifices to realize their dreams, and American Family Insurance is proud to present this tremendous honor to them.”
The American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the Under Armour All-America Game continues tomorrow, when Gareon Conley (Washington High School – Massillon, Ohio), Kohl Stewart (St. Pius X High School – Houston, Texas), and Keanu Neal (South Sumter High School – Bushnell, Fla.) will be presented with their honorary Under Armour All-America Game jerseys at their respective schools.
