Bayou Corne, La (NBC33) — The Department of Natural Resources has released new information regarding the sinkhole in Bayou Corne.
A spokesman for the DNR says Texas Brine met today's deadline to draw up plans for more monitoring equipment.
The State Department of Conservation wants Texas Brine add the equipment to figure out what's going on in Bayou Corne, including tools to measure water levels, gas pressure, and changes in elevation around the community.
The company also had to come up with a plan to monitor changes in the collapsed cavern.
A spokesman for Texas Brine says crews began the process of removing hydrocarbons from inside that cavern this afternoon.
