NBC NATIONAL NEWS — All eyes are on tonight's presidential debate.
Democrats predict a more lively President Obama, but Republicans figure Governor Mitt Romney will be buoyed by new set of positive polls.
One startling poll conducted by Gallup for USA Today shows him leading in 12 battleground states including Colorado, Florida and Ohio.
Gallup found the Mr. Romney trails with women in swing states by just one percentage point, a once-wide gender gap closed.
Team Obama disputes the numbers, which would signal a critical shift.
Tonight's debate is a town hall format, with audience questions.
82 uncommitted voters make up the town hall.
They'll ask questions screened and selected by moderator Candy Crowley of CNN, who will ask follow ups.
The debate will air tonight at 8:00 p.m. on NBC33.
