BATON ROUGE, LA — Lace up your favorite running shoes and head over to Runnels School on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 4 pm for the fourth annual “Run, Raiders, Run,” a fun run sponsored by the Runnels Cross Country Team.
Proceeds from the two-mile walking/running race across the Runnels campus, 17255 S. Harrell’s Ferry Rd., will benefit the Foundation Fighting Blindness, an international charity that helps fund research in the United States and around the world on degenerative eye diseases, and the Runnels Cross Country team.
Registration for the event will be at 3 pm on campus the day of the race, with a required registration fee of $10.00 per runner. The race will take place Oct. 14, rain or shine, and no refunds will be made.
According to event organizer and head cross country coach Julie Fink, the course (two one-mile loops) will be marked and monitored by race day officials. The race begins and ends at the Runnels Gym. A half-mile race will be held for children in the fifth grade and younger before the main event. All runners are welcome, be they fast or slow.
Overall and age group winners will receive special recognition.
