BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Louisiana Department of Education says it's saving you money and it's eliminated fifty jobs. Meanwhile, the department has hired on five network leaders and one policy liaison.
Each leader deals with several school districts. Their jobs are to get those school districts in line with new standards set forth by the state.
"They know what it means to change a system, to change hundreds of classrooms and there is no way to do this work without having the state's best leaders supporting our superintendents," John White, Superintendent of Education, said.
White says so far this year the implementation of the new staff members has gone well. The majority of those fifty jobs eliminated were done through attrition and retirement. Many of those in the new positions were pulled from across the state.
