EUNICE, LA (NBC33) — A teen ended up celebrating her 18th birthday in jail after she was busted for stealing $70 from the wallet of a postal service employee.
An officer with the Eunice Police Department was flagged down by a U.S. Postal Service employee on Tuesday, Oct. 2 after he claimed a woman went into his vehicle and stole money out of his wallet.
The victim told the officer that he was out delivering mail in the 1900 block of West Ash Street, and when he returned to his vehicle he discovered a female inside with his wallet. He says he then checked his wallet and found that all of his money was missing. He confronted the woman, who denied taking anything, but allegedly threw a $20 bill at him and ran off.
The victim described the woman to the officer. He said she was wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt, and black fuzzy boots.
An officer in the area spotted a woman matching the description provided by the victim. Regan Pousson was arrested and taken to be questioned. Officials say she initially denied the allegations, but quickly changed her story.
After confessing, Pousson lead officers to the location where she hid the money after fleeing. She said she intended on picking up the money later.
Pousson was then booked in the Eunice City Jail and charged with Simple Burglary. Her bond was set at $10,000.
The money that was stolen was returned to the postal worker.
