Diamond in the Rough Winter Formal Pageant

The Diamond in the Rough Winter Formal Pageant is a natural beauty pageant, meaning glitz & glamour is not important! While we plan to have a glamorous event, our focus is on community service & encouraging the girls to realize how special they are, how perfect they are JUST THE WAY THEY ARE! We teach them to understand that their physical beauty doesn't need altering & whatever their appearance, it doesn't make them the wonderful person they are... what matters is what's on the inside. We teach them how to tap into that inner beauty & appreciate it!

The pageant was named "Diamond in the Rough" because a Diamond in the Rough is a young lady who has exceptional hidden characteristics, talents and/or future potential, but currently lacks the final touches that would make her truly stand out from the crowd. The phrase is metaphorical and relates to the fact that naturally occurring diamonds are quite ordinary at first glance, and that their true beauty as jewels is only realized through the cutting and polishing process.
