Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Known for it's Oak-lined streets and floral inspired street names, the Garden District is being recognized as one of the top ten great places in America.
The honor is being bestowed on the area by the American Planning Association.
The group cites the neighborhoods well-maintained live Oaks, well preserved architecture and family friendly feel as factors for the award.
Most anyone you ask will say they wouldn't live anywhere else.
"I think it's a true neighborhood. Everyone looks out for each other, they know each other,” state homeowner Marna Manning. “It’s ambience - it makes me feel wonderful because I love the neighborhood."
The group has been naming the best places and neighborhoods in America for several years now, and the list draws from across the nation.
Selections are made based on cultural and historical interest, as well as community involvement.
