BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Baton Rouge Police Department screened hundreds of cars at a DWI checkpoint on Saturday, Sept. 29.
“We conduct DWI checkpoints typically on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, and that’s because that’s the most likely time for people to be out drinking and driving,” Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, Baton Rouge Police Department, said.
The checkpoint was set on the 3100 block of Harding Blvd from midnight until 2:10 a.m. We’re told the checkpoint was delayed due to the rain.
Officers screened a total of 435 cars during that period. As a result they made 9 arrests for DWI. They also arrested on individual for having an open container in the vehicle, and another for possession of marijuana.
Along with DWI arrests, officers issued citations for 14 different traffic violations.
