NBC NEWS — U.S. airlines collected more than $1.7 billion in baggage fees in the first six months of this year - the most ever in a six month period.
Delta Airlines collected the most, with nearly $430 million collected from January through June.
A report from the Bureau of Transportation shows United Airlines followed with $351 million in bag fees.
Airlines also collected an additional $1.3 billion in fees
for cancelations and flight changes during the first six months.
