NBC NATIONAL NEWS — A dog that was separated from his family during Hurricane Katrina is being returned to Louisiana.
A North Carolina family adopted the poodle named Shorty from a local shelter six years ago. They let Shorty outside a couple weeks back, and he never came back. Someone found the dog and took him to an animal clinic. The vet found a microchip on Shorty and contacted the owners in Louisiana.
Now, they want the dog returned, and his current owners are going to let it happen.
"I don't know why it took forever for them to find him, because, I mean, it's been seven years, and we had him for six years,” “It's been forever, so I mean, they can keep him. I do want to see him before he leaves or something."
No word on when Shorty will be coming home to Louisiana.
