WOODLAND, CA (KTXL) — Ronald Vikash Chand, a 32-year-old Sacramento resident, has been convicted on five counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, the Yolo County DA's office announced Friday.
The charges stemmed from an alleged relationship Chand started with a 15-year-old girl. Apparently, Chand lied to the girl about his age and pursued her, through Facebook and text messages.
Chand, a married man with a young child, was then alleged to have picked up the girl "multiple times" at her high school, then engaged in sexual intercourse in his car and a West Sacramento motel.
"The defendant manipulated the victim in order to get her to participate in sexual acts with him. This verdict ensures that he will not be able to victimize another teenage girl," said Deputy District Attorney Sara Abrate in a release.
Chand will be sentenced on October 22, facing four years in state prison.
