SHREVEPORT, LA (KMSS) — An alleged gunman is behind bars this morning accused of firing several shots outside a downtown night club.
At 3:18 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to reports of gunfire outside of a club located near the 600 block of Commerce Street. When police arrived, witnesses told them a man had been denied entry into the club and was asked to leave by security. The man, later identified as Eddie Jefferson, 30, of Shreveport, allegedly tried to start a fight with security guards before finally leaving
After leaving the club, Jefferson reportedly grabbed a gun from his SUV and began firing rounds into the air, then drove away. Responding patrolmen quickly caught Jefferson on Clyde Fant Parkway near Stoner Avenue.
During the traffic stop, officers located found a .357 handgun on the side of Clyde Fant Parkway. Authorities believe it is the gun used in the shooting.
Jefferson was taken into custody and later booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of illegal use of a weapon.
No injuries were reported.
