CROWLEY, LA — A man on the run for a year and a half has been taken into custody by Crowley Police. Gary Lester Berry, Jr., 41 of Crowley has been arrested and charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Felony Theft.
Berry is accused of befriending an employee of a local business and stealing that employees vehicle and a business deposit. Berry then fled the area and was on the run for the next 18 months.
“Our investigators have been working on this case ever since it occurred. Berry was tracked to the Eastern & Mid-Western part of the United States, but moved quite often evading attempts by law enforcement to get him in custody” stated Chief K.P. Gibson.
However, that all came to an end as Berry returned to the Crowley area and was discovered by law enforcement and taken into custody.
“I am proud of the efforts by our officers. This matter could have easily gone cold but their work ethic helped clear this case” stated Chief Gibson.
