BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Peace was proclaimed near LSU campus Saturday evening. It's all part of the third annual Baton Rouge world peace day.
The free event was held in Beauvior Park. people got a chance to practice the yoga malafor peace. the event is an extension of the United Nations International Peace Day celebration. Event organizers say everybody can add one act of peace to their daily routine.
"Every community should be celebrating it," said event organizer Beth Zagurski. "Our intention is to bring people together so that we feel connected. When we feel connected hopefully we'll be more peaceful. Once we are connected we are connected with other communities. "
The Red Stick Peacemakers organized the event and all donations were split between Adopt-A-Senior and Braveheart program.
