BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Governor Bobby Jindal is driving a big expansion for Baton Rouge Community College.
The Governor announced today that BRCC will receive nearly $14 million for an auto technology center.
The center will train students for careers as mechanics and technicians. The governor said there are two dozen auto mechanic training programs in Louisiana, but none of them provide the kind of high-tech training that the market needs.
Jindal said there are currently 2,700 job openings for auto technicians in Louisiana, and that number will keep growing.
Construction of the new 60-thousand square foot facility will begin in 2014, and open late the following year.
