In Ouachita Parish, Monroe Police are putting some old police cars to work, in an effort to keep drivers safe. Eight old police cars have been transformed into Crime Deterrent Units. They're strategically placed throughout the city on highways, streets and at some businesses. Even though there's no officer inside, they are there to get the attention of drivers and get them to slow down. The units are moved every few hours and replaced with manned patrol units, to make sure drivers don't get used to where they are.
