LIVINGSTON PARISH,La (NBC33) — Debris pickup in Livingston Parish begins Monday.
Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks says four trucks will go into the south end of the parish monday and two trucks in the north end of the parish
Many homes in the southern end of the parish near Maurepas suffered water damage after Isaac.
People living there say debris pickup is the a tangible step that things can eventually go back to normal.
"It feels good but it's overwhelming," said Livingston Parish Resident Valencia Levy. "You know this is your home that you've been living in all your life. Starting over is not a good thing, but at least we have somewhere to start from. "
Officials are asking anyone with debris to separate it into three piles. One for white goods, another for tree limbs, and a third for demolition debris.
