Louisiana (NBC33) — Secretary of State Tom Schedler is one of five secretaries of state, along with Federal Voting Assistance Program Staff, who are on an overseas trip to educate and assist servicemen, women and their families regarding military and overseas absentee voting.
FVAP administers the federal responsibilities of the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act.
"I am honored to be a part of this trip to the Middle East," Secretary Schedler said. "Our servicemen and women, and their families, are fighting and sacrificing daily for our sacred right to vote. This trip allows me to reach out to these individuals and provide any assistance they need regarding voting in Louisiana."
Secretary Schedler was invited as a member of the National Association of Secretaries of States and trip was paid for by the Department of Defense.
NBC33 will have more information as Secretary Schedler continues on his trip.
