Baton Rouge (NBC) — In Rapides Parish, there was a major fire in Alexandria Sunday Night. Now, Alexandria Police have arrested a 13-year-old and they're looking at the possibility of other arrests in what appears to be a case of arson. The fire happened at the old Thompson-Hargis Mansion on Florence Avenue. Residents in the area say the home had been boarded up for several years. Authorities say several fire trucks were on scene battling the blaze. Fire fighters had to use the tall crane to help put the fire out.
In Orleans Parish, they’re still waiting on news regarding a Tulane football player injured over the weekend. Senior safety Devon Walker collided with a teammate on Saturday in Wave’s game against Tulsa University in Oklahoma. The blow left Walker with a spinal injury, but doctors say it’s too early to know how serious it is.
In Assumption Parish, Sheriff's Deputies say they've taken six grams of "meth" off the streets. NBC 33 has learned that Tommy Donati, 33, was arrested on a tip that he was bringing meth into Belle River. He was arrested at a local car wash though he told deputies he was just delivering the meth to a friend. Donati is in jail, charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Meth.
