BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — It was Christmas in September for the kids of Parkview Baptist on Friday as they learned about the importance of giving.
The students were visited by members of the Operation Christmas Child program. It’s a program that fills thousands of shoe boxes full of small gifts for children who don't have much across the world.
Ted foreman was one of those children on the receiving end of operation Christmas Child while living in a Russian orphanage.
"I remember I walked in to my class room and there as a shoe box gift sitting on my desk,” he recalled. “And that was the first time in my life that I received a gift and for the first time in my life I felt like 'wow, somebody loves me and somebody cares for me'"
The Operation Christmas Child boxes usually go out the first weeks of November and are shipped across the world.
