NEW IBERIA, LA (NBC33) — Imagine getting a knock on the door and a plea for help from someone who had been shot. That’s what happened to one woman in New Iberia over the weekend.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident happened on Sunday, Sept. 9, shortly before midnight. We’re told that a resident on Rogers Street received at a knock at her door and a plea for help.
When the woman opened the door she noticed the man bleeding from his shoulder. Law enforcement was then called in to assist.
The victim is a 25-year-old man who was shot in his shoulder. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injury. He is expected to survive.
Currently, detectives are trying to figure out who may have been involved in the shooting. They say they have identified a person of interest. However, they ask for anyone with information relative to the shooting to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 369-3711.
