CHARLOTTE, NC-- The 2012 Democratic National convention was called to order Tuesday. DNC chair and congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida sounded the gavel, and that was followed by several rousing speeches, including one from First Lady Michelle Obama.
Mrs. Obama talked about how her husband handles the stress of the job, and how he fights for average americans everyday. "In the end, for Barack, these issues aren't political - they're personal because Barack knows what it means when a family struggles" is what she told a cheering crowd.
Some called Mrs. Obama's speech "electric." The crowd was on their feet several times. Democrats are hoping her rally cry will warm up undedcided voters who were fired up about her husband four years ago.
Wednesday night, the DNC's big speaker is Former President Bill Clinton.
