Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — As flood waters begin to recede, Louisiana's top insurance man says claims will no doubt be going up.
Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says it's important that residents understand the insurance coverage you have for your home.
Donelon says most insurance policies are complicated, and not written for the average home owner to understand.
So, if you have questions about your policy, and whether you should file a claim, Donelon says you should call his office.
"We are here to help, that's what insurance departments are there to do,” stated Donelon. “We regulate insurance - all aspects of the insurance industry. But, more importantly, we service and look after, and assist consumers."
