Baton Rouge, La — La Madeleine Country French Café is teaming up with thousands of restaurants across the nation for Share Our Strength’s annual fundraising event, Dine Out For No Kid Hungry, to help end childhood hunger.
Beginning Sept. 5, la Madeleine guests who show their support with a donation of $1 or more will receive a free Triple Chocolate Peppermint cookie. Additionally, la Madeleine will sweeten the deal by donating all proceeds through the sale of its No Kid Hungry coupon booklet. For $5, guests will receive coupons redeemable for $20 of la Madeleine favorites, including bakery treats and a jar of Tomato Basil soupe. La Madeleine will accept donations for Dine Out For No Kid Hungry and offer the coupon booklet at all cafés through Sept. 22.
“It is tragic that there are kids in our own communities going to bed hungry when there is a solution. This is why the la Madeleine family has joined the ranks of those who can, and are, doing something about it,” said Phil Costner, president and chief operating officer of la Madeleine. “Dine Out For No Kid Hungry offers an easy, yet meaningful, way for our guests to help end childhood hunger, and we sincerely hope that the people of Baton Rouge will join us in our second year of supporting this great cause.”
Now in its fifth year, Dine Out For No Kid Hungry has raised more than $4 million for Share Our Strength’s national No Kid Hungry campaign. Funds raised are used to increase awareness about child hunger in the U.S., create public-private partnerships that align kids with the resources they need, support school breakfast, summer and after-school meal programs, and educate kids and their families on how to cook healthy meals with limited resources.
“Everyone–private citizens, businesses, policymakers and nonprofits–has a role in helping end childhood hunger in America,” said Billy Shore, founder and CEO of Share Our Strength. “I encourage everyone to dine out often at participating restaurants wherever they are this September. Then visit NoKidHungry.org to join this national movement to ensure that every child in America has access to the nutritious food they need, every day.”
