Livingston Parish, La (NBC33) — People throughout Louisiana are evacuating to shelters to wait out the uncertainty of Isaac.
We spoke with some people in Livingston to see how they were holding up at a shelter being held in Doyle High Schools gymnasium.
The shift advisor, Todd Sandeman, said that the people were, "Patient, we've got some wonderful folks coming through these doors, considering the situations they're going through, fear, scared thinking of maybe past hurricanes."
We also spoke with someone who evacuated to the shelter and he said, "Never been treated better in my life in my whole life, never been treated no better."
Sandeman also said, "People are coming in here, we're offering them some sanctuary, we're offering them some shelter, we're offering them clean food and water snacks during the day meals and lunch and dinner, things of that sort of nature."
The American Red Cross is thankful for all the volunteers that have come from the community to help out at the shelter.
