Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — NBC33’s Jesse Gunkel had a chance to decide who has Baton Rouge's best jambalaya at the 23rd Annual ExxonMobil Jambalaya Cookoff.
Money raised at the event helps the United Way.
Speakers included Mayor Kip Holden and former Baton Rouge Police Chief Jeff Leduff.
The event’s organizer told us today she couldn't be happier with the turnout.
“This is to start our campaign. It’s going to kick off our United Way campaign and this gets all the employees involved,” stated organizer Cheree Scardina. “We have been one of the largest contributors for the Capitol Area United Way, and this kicks off our annual campaign event. We do it all for the United Way.”
Dozens of jambalaya recipes from all over the city were in the competition.
