NBC NATIONAL NEWS — A Plymouth, New Hampshire woman says she's lucky to be alive after a big tree fell on her house.
Virginia Wilson, 72, was sitting on her couch in her living room on Wednesday afternoon when the ceiling suddenly hit her head.
She was forced to crawl out to safety and managed to call 911 on her way out of the house.
"It just came down and I'm just holding it up," Wilson said during an interview at the hotel where she is now staying. "Enough of it came down where it jarred you a little bit. It didn't scare me though."
Fortunately, she was not hurt.
Neither was her cat.
"I lived there so long and this is, I think, the first real bad incident that ever occurred," said Wilson.
She's lived in the home for 40 years and never worried that anything like this would happen.
Neighbors said they were concerned.
"The tree was leaning for quite a long time and I just knew that, one of these days, it was going to crash on the poor lady's house," said Debbie Williams, who lives down the road from Wilson.
Wilson said she's thankful to be alive.
"I'm lucky though, very lucky," she said.
