BATON ROUGE, LA — A deputy with the School Drug Task Force responded this morning to a call concerning a gun brought to McKinley High School at 800 E. McKinley St. at approximately 11:00 a.m.
According to reports, administration suspected a student of possible narcotic use and when they confronted the student, he fled on foot. When caught by administration, a .22 caliber handgun was found in the student’s book bag with one bullet in the chamber.
The 16-year-old 11th grader is charged with Carrying of a Firearm by a Student On School Property and will be booked into Juvenile Detention.
This investigation is still ongoing.
