Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Baton Rouge's crime rate is front page news in a national newspaper. In the Wall Street Journal, they say violence in the Capitol City is on the rise.
District Attorney Hillar Moore was interviewed for the article. He said the killings are mostly over "nonsense."
The article says there were ten more murders in Baton Rouge this year compared to the same to last year.
Both the victims and the suspects - young people with no direction.
People we talked with today told us the national exposure could help bring more ideas on how to curb the violence. Some add it needs to happen now because the streets just aren't safe.
The article says across the country, almost 95 percent of murder victims are African-Americans, and so are their killers.
