East Baton Rouge Parish, La (NBC33) — A third man has thrown his name into this Mayor-President race for EBR Parish.
Gordon Mese is the owner of the Garden District Nursery on Government Street, and made his bid for mayor-president official this afternoon.
Mese has no party affiliation and says he'll use his experience in business as a way to improve things in the parish.
He says his main priority is to change the unified development code, which he says will open up a list of other opportunities in East Baton Rouge Parish.
"Changing that code and the way we do business will actually reduce crime, probably improve education, diminish blight and actually create opportunities for people," said Mese.
Mese will face off against current Mayor-President Kip Holden and Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Walker in the election. The last chance to qualify ended today at 5:00 p.m.
