Yuma, AZ (KPHO) — Yuma woman has been arrested after her 10-month-old baby tested positive for drugs, police said.
Maria Robles, 25, admitted to using methamphetamines and said she allowed her child access to the drugs, according to Sgt. Leanne Worthen of the Yuma Police Department.
The abuse surfaced when the baby was flown from the Yuma Regional Medical Center to Phoenix for treatment of what was believed to be a scorpion sting, Worthen said.
It was later learned the child tested positive for amphetamines and ecstasy in her body.
Robles was booked into the Yuma County Detention Facility on Monday on charges of child abuse, possession of dangerous drugs, use of dangerous drugs and endangerment.
The child remained at Phoenix Children's Hospital for treatment and is now in the care of Child Protective Services.
