NBC News — China's highest profile murder trial in years began thursday. The wife of a disgraced top politician is accused of getting a British businessman drunk and then poisoning him. The trial lasted all of four hours, international media were barred from the courtroom but an official from the U.K. embassy was in attendance.
Analysts say the media ban is in place because China's ruling Communist Party wants the trial to focus on the murder and not the larger allegations of corruption. The wife did not contest the charges. There's no word on when a verdict will be handed down.
