BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Better late than never: Employees at Crestworth Academy finally received paychecks that were due to them at the end of July.
As we reported earlier this week, employees were told by the school that they would not be receiving a paycheck at all for this week, or when payday comes again in two weeks.
Several employees hired a lawyer and threatened legal action, demanding their paychecks since it is money owed to them. Today, employees woke up to find that they did receive one of those missing paychecks...
"We appreciate being paid something - it should've been all the money in a lump sum,” Sclynski Legier, Attorney representing the teachers, said. “Where we go from here is up to them, as I represent them."
NBC33 reached out to officials at Crestworth Academy, but have not received a call back yet. No word on if teachers will receive their paychecks again in two weeks.
