BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — As Tropical Storm Ernesto inches toward the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center is keeping their eye on two new disturbances. One is off the coast of Florida in the Atlantic. The other system is off the coast of Africa.
It's too soon to know for sure when or even if these systems will impact our weather here in Louisiana.
The Governors Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness says they're tracking Ernesto and the other storms all around the clock.
A spokesperson for GOHSEP says heads of agencies all across the state are getting constant updates on the path of all the storms in the Caribbean and Atlantic.
Because of Tropical Storm Ernesto and the projected path GOHSEP activated their crisis action team this morning.
That means weather updates are provided to department heads more frequently.
