BATON ROUGE (May 21, 2010) -Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Scientists patrolling the Grand Isle beaches today discovered a deceased northern gannet covered in oil and emulsified tar along the beach.
Scientists patrolling the Grand Isle beaches noted that the entire length of the beach was covered in tar balls and “patties.”
The bird will be tested to determine if its death was caused by oil.
