LOUISIANA (NBC33) — For shoppers it's like Christmas in August the Louisiana sales tax holiday is set for this weekend. That means on Friday and Saturday you won't be seeing any state sales tax on the bottom of your receipt on any purchase up to $2,500.
For many families the tax break comes just in time to stock up for school, but that's not the only break parents could catch this year on school supplies.
"Uniforms, school supplies, and educational equipment that are required by the schools are also eligible for a set of income tax deductions," Byron Henderson, La. Department of Revenue, said.
That tax break doesn't cover things like meals at restaurants and for buying vehicles that need license and title fees.
