BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A suspect has been arrested for a shooting incident that happened in the Tigerland area.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that George Triplett, 22, was arrested in the early morning on Thursday, Aug. 2. He’s accused of shooting an 18 year old man in the head at his home located on the 4700 block of Tigerland Avenue. The victim is in the hospital in critical condition.
Police believe the motive for the shooting was robbery, as well as drug related. Although they believe this to be an isolated incident, there have been several violent robberies in the area recently. Police advise residents to be vigilant observers of their surroundings.
“Coming together as a community is your first line of defense,” Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, Baton Rouge Police Department, said. “If everyone is working together to try and prevent that type of element, that’s the first step. Awareness is the second. If you see something suspicious, don’t just stand by and feel that if it’s not happening to me, then it doesn’t matter. If you see something suspicious, take note, become involved and make a difference.”
Triplett was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Attempted First-Degree Murder.
This case is still under investigation.
