Surprise, AZ (KPHO) — A 67-year-old Peoria woman has been arrested for using counterfeit bills to pay at yard sales in Surprise over the course of several months, according to police.
Surprise Police Department Sgt. Bert Anzini said the first victim received a counterfeit bill from the Susan Patterson in February and since then there have been seven other victims.
Surprise police arrested Patterson after she gave a counterfeit bill to another victim at a yard sale on Saturday.
Police found more counterfeit bills in Patterson's vehicle, according to Anzini.
Anzini said Surprise police are working with the U.S. Secret Service to determine where the bills came from.
