Baton Rouge, LA (NBC33) — Supporters of Mayor-President candidate John Conroy won't be seeing him on the ballot this November; Conroy is taking himself out of the race.
Conroy, who bills himself as a “true fiscal republican” says this is not the end of his political career.
He says this time around the $60,000 he's already raised just won't be enough.
"Our biggest challenge is that we've not been successful in raising the kind of money that we're going to need to have a competitive campaign," stated Conroy.
Conroy says he would reconsider re-entering the race if he were able to raise an additional $80,000 by the August 15 qualifying deadline.
Conroy says this race has been very high stakes, and he would need at least $800,000 to compete with the two established candidates.
